Physint Say It Ain’t So: Kojima’s ‘PS6 Title’ Is Now an Xbox Game

The first PS6 title that was announced with Kojima is now being published on Xbox. If there was ever going to be a time where PlayStation was going to have to decide to pull the plug due to the increased expense of the Physint project, that call was going to need to be made. Now, in terms of whether that’s the right decision or not, we will never know—but it certainly does tell us something. Sony is just not willing to go with ambition on a level that they did back in the PS4 era.

The Zelda graphics we all dreamed of

Are you awake Link? In the days before the original Nintendo Switch launch. There were concepts about how the next Zelda could look in terms of graphics and art style. Having watched Zelda’s 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct yesterday. I had to smile at what I was witnessing. Because we’re very much now getting to the point with Nintendo hardware where all of this is possible for Nintendo fans.

Why I am excited for 1666 Amsterdam

Ever since Assassin’s Creed debuted in the gaming industry. I have been hooked on this franchise and the concept that Patrice Désilets created. I have followed his work in the gaming industry for a long time. When I saw what he had coming in terms of a new vision for a game in the same sort of mould as Assassin’s Creed with 1666: Amsterdam. I wanted to learn all I could about what this game is going to offer. The premise is a dark, third-person action-adventure set in a supernatural 17th-century world. Playing as a witch/demon hunter called Noa you can explore the environment like earlier Assassin’s Creed games.

‘Just ambitious’ enough

I want to be proven wrong by Manchester United regarding this. However, all I am hearing is that it’s just a slip and that a result against Manchester City gets our season back on track. People are saying it’s too early to judge, but I tend to disagree with that. We only have to look at our opposition that we’ve faced. It’s also important to understand where we are as a football club. Our squad is aging. How often can Bruno Fernandes save us? We have no plans nor have we identified a successor.

Could Nintendo steal the spotlight?

It’s September which basically means that a Nintendo Direct is going to take place and a sleeping giant could finally be awakened. We are now at year’s end. We spoke in a previous article at the beginning of the year about how Nintendo will up the ante in terms of what it’s doing. That certainly seems to be the case. With all the news being about GTA VI lately. What better way than Nintendo doing what it does best and saying ‘this is what we have coming’. There’s plenty that could be announced as well. Is it Mario time? I am not so sure as the focus is massively on Zelda right now.

PlayStation backtracking isn’t enough

It’s been a productive time in the gaming industry as of late. I think it’s clear, XBOX are now ramping up their ambitions in the console hardware space going into the next generation with Project Helix. After Sony’s attitude towards physical media. They can smell blood. Of course, XBOX has been in the news recently with its cloud limits. I am not sure how that helps their way of building on the sort of audience they need. It’s clear that cloud gaming usage is actually growing and becoming an important part within the Eco-systems that these platform holders have.

A more balanced future for XBOX

I talked recently about XBOX needing to find the ‘right balance’ for them as a platform a few articles ago. I think with the initiative that they announced today with disc to digital, they’re certainly stepping in the right direction. And that’s a direction where fans are heard even if the overarching statement is that we’re not going to be able to avoid digital as that is going to be the way that the industry moves forward together.
