Jim Carrey’s in demand

As you may be aware, Jim Carrey has been semi-retired from acting for several years. However, that hasn’t stopped him from having major success as Eggman in the Sonic movies. It also hasn’t stopped the demand for the actor to return in some sequels for some of the other iconic roles he’s been in such as The Mask and The Grinch.

Nintendo’s a safe pair of hands

That Nintendo Direct was a delight to watch wasn’t it? Third party games are very much front and centre within the Nintendo eco-system once again. It’s likely to continue to be the case as Nintendo goes all out. Kingdom Hearts being announced there was a first, but I don’t think this will be something that doesn’t happen again within the third-party-sphere.

Shock and awe

What if XBOX actually knows what it’s doing with its new ‘selective’ XBOX approach? There is much online discourse around how Sony fans are disappointed with XBOX’s new strategy. However, the build up to the next generation has begun. Exclusives will be needed to make the platform viable. Not only that, could we see an XBOX approach actually work really well going into the next generation when we know the big games are coming? You know, the ones that could make you consider XBOX?

Exclusivity on trial at XBOX?

Well, well. Who would’ve thought that exclusivity would be back on the table in some way at XBOX. In the Phil Spencer era, the term exclusivity was a second thought and the door was firmly open for everybody to seemingly jump in. What I have learned from this is that when it’s not going right for the platform, in the sense of what they wanted to achieve. They needed gamers back on their side and you do that by playing the game that the new XBOX boss is really good at, incredible marketing, that speaks to the core of your fanbase.

I predict a riot

PS5 sales are in the mud (because of the recent price increase), Xbox isn’t doing much better (but has risen recently). The only platform really pushing sales right now is the Nintendo Switch 2. The next generation is going to be all about that premium price. But what if some of these platforms do not deliver from the get go of the next generation?

I want to believe

This upcoming XBOX 25th Anniversary is a big deal. I want to believe that this is going to be the event that really kick starts a comeback of sorts. And you know what they say, each step we take is progress. The same can be said with the XBOX momentum. They’ve seen some XBOX fans return to the platform of late because of the changes not only to reverting the Game Pass price back but also listening to the fan feedback.

Playing it safe

I don’t know what it is about this Sony. It just had its most successful concurrent State of Play ever based on ‘hype’. In the end, it was just a falsehood wasn’t it? Unless you like uninspiring shows with no sort of risk taking. Yet, I find it rather unimaginative that they’re utilising the same PlayStation Studio franchises. Insomniac hasn’t been let off its lead to do anything other than Marvel things. Obviously, that scratches the itch of everyone who loves Marvel games. If you’re a Sony fan you’d probably be expecting Infamous or Resistance, or a Killzone comeback from somewhere.

Sony’s position on Destiny is wild

Destiny 2 has been a mainstay at Bungie for 9 years. Sony has focused on live service games for most of this generation. That’s where they want to be. They spent a hefty sum on the privilege of acquiring Bungie. The situation at Sony couldn’t be more unclear in terms of the direction they actually want to go in. They’re either all in on live service or they’re not.
